• 1983-1984 Master of Arts in Language and Literature in Education, University of London, Institute of Education
• 1987-1991 research in London (Applied Linguistics)
• 1991 PhD from University of London (PhD Thesis: "Approaches to Summarization: Discourse Analysis and Language Education")
• end 1991 returned to Vienna to work as lecturer ("Univ.-Assistentin") at the English Department of the University of Vienna
• 2001 'Habilitation' for English Linguistics (Habilitation: "English: Native Tongue, Foreign Language, Lingua Franca. An Applied Linguistic Enquiry")
