Information for prospective MA students
The Department of English and American Studies currently offers two Master Programmes:
Anglophone Literatures and Cultures and
English Language and Linguistics

Requirements for admission to the departmental MA programmes
a) An undergraduate degree in English Studies from an internationally recognised university AND
b) Applicants whose first language is not English must provide evidence of their written and spoken English skills (English language proficiency at level C 1 - CEFR). The following are acceptable:
either
- a degree from a university whose primary language of instruction is English
OR - a degree in English Studies from a university in an EU/EEC member state and Switzerland
OR - official results of one of the following proficiency exams (not older than 3 years):
- IELTS (6,5 overall; minimum of 6 per component)
- TOEFL: IBT (internet-based): 100; "Paper:" 600
- Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) minimum C
- Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE): minimum C
Please note that all application documents should be submitted to the Central Admissions Office, and not be sent to the Department. After having been processed by Admissions, relevant documents will be forwarded to the Director of Studies at the English Department to decide on the suitability of candidates for an MA programme.
