Christina Mattson is an award-winning researcher at the University of Vienna Department of English and American Studies. Her doctoral project, funded by the Austrian Academy of Sciences DOC Fellowship, focuses on a recent wave of innovative, alternative stand-up comedy specials that challenge tensions and contradictions of the genre, which she has termed “queered stand-up” for its project of disruption and ambivalences. She is interested in the genre-blurring aspects of queered stand-up and has previously explored connections between stand-up comedy and humorous spoken word poetry as a research associate with the ERC Project “Poetry off the Page” at the University of Vienna.
