Research interests
I am a postdoctoral researcher in the ERC/FWF project Poetry Off the Page: Literary History and the Spoken Word, 1965–2020 at the University of Vienna.
My research traces contemporary literature across the African diaspora, the Black Atlantic, and the Global South, focusing on the interstices where literary, performative, and musical practices converge. I am drawn to traditions that intertwine the written word with the non-verbal realms of sound and embodied experience, revealing the imaginative and affective possibilities of marginalised voices and bodies.
I explore how creative expression negotiates questions of identity, memory, and belonging, offering alternative forms of resistance and visibility. My work engages with contemporary concerns of diversity and representation, examining how power, authority, and silence shape the spaces in which voices are heard—or remain at the margins. By attending to what often goes unnoticed, my research illuminates the generative potential of these margins, where new forms of knowledge, connection, and cultural vitality emerge.
