What do you like most about your job?

That it’s never boring, that I’m working with interesting topics and interesting people, and that I can contribute to my students’ progress.


What's the number one piece of advice you wish you had been given as a student?

How to keep warm when queuing for language classes overnight (we had registration on a first-come-first-serve basis then).


Which English word/phrase/grammar point do you especially like to teach to your students?

ghoti (a creative respelling of the word “fish” attributed to G.B. Shaw to show the irregularities in English spelling)

gh - pronunciation as in tough

o - pronunciation as in women

ti - pronunciation as in nation

When you are not at the department, where do you like to hang out in Vienna?

I don’t get to hang out all too often, but if I do, my favourite café in Vienna is Tirolerhof, and in the spring/summer, I particularly like the City-Beach along Donaukanal.

Giving birth to (and being the tamer of) two wild boys J.
