Consultation hours: By appointment
I am a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of English and American Studies at the University of Vienna. In 2022, I completed my Ph.D, where I explored the intersection between migrant literature, poetics, and the philosophy of movement, culminating in what I called a "kinopoetics". This thesis has since been expanded and adapted to form the basis of my first monograph, Poetics of the Migrant, set to be released by Edinburgh University Press in 2023.
My current book project considers theological, ontological, and political anarchisms in 19th Century British Literature. I am also an associated member of the “Mobile Cultures and Societies” research platform. I have scholarly articles published or forthcoming in ARIEL, Poetics Today, Deleuze and Guattari Studies, New Formations, and Incontri; and my public writing has appeared in Jacobin, ROAR Magazine, Monthly Review, The Millions, and Dissident Voice.I am a huge nerd when it comes to narrative, representation, theory, and poetics, especially as they intervene in bigger questions of power, subjectivity, ideology, and critique. I am happy to meet with students to discuss any of these topics, along with related concerns about literary and cultural studies.Kevin Potter
