On a personal note ...
What do you like most about your job?
As a teacher, I love tailoring our language programme to the specific needs of my students. As a researcher, I love the opportunity to create new knowledge.
What's the number one piece of advice you wish you had been given as a student?
Never let formal education get in the way of your learning.
Which English word/phrase/grammar point do you especially like to teach to your students?
Argumentation: If you weigh the same as a duck, then, logically, you’re made of wood and must be a witch.
What’s your favo(u)rite line from a song or your favo(u)rite saying?
You can never understand one language until you understand at least two.
When you are not at the department, where do you like to hang out in Vienna?
I love places with a panoramic view, such as the hilltops around Vienna, lookout points, church steeples and rooftop restaurants.
What's the scariest thing you've ever done in your life?
Opening a packet of biscuits close to a troop of monkeys on my way to Savitri Temple, Pushkar, India.
